Self Packing

A Money Saving Alternative

Moving Cartons

Do It Yourself Packing

If you are looking for ways to economize, self packing may be a good place to start, provided that you feel you can achieve professsional results. At Continental, we want to help you pack your belongings correctly. Below are some things to consider:

What are the Risks?

Professional packers have the necessary training to ensure that your prized posessions are packed and transported safely. You may want to have the mover pack your breakable items.

Keep in mind that only cartons that are packed by Continental are covered against damage even if you take out additional coverage.

Planning and Organization

Pack the items that you will not need in the interim first.

Create a schedule and stick to it. Packing isn't the most fun thing and it often gets avoided.  Then, at the last minute you are left with an unsurmountable task.

What needs to be packed?

As a rule, furniture and major appliances are wrapped and padded by Continental on move day. Light weight, non fragile items such as clothing can be left in drawers. To ensure adequate protection, any breakable or loose items should be wrapped and packed in sturdy cartons, preferable cartons designed for moving.

Mark the cartons clearly with your name and the room that you wish the cartons to be delivered.
