History

Working in the freight industry in Alaska, Gene Hundley recognized an opportunity. Due to the difficulty of handling people’s personal possessions to Alaska, his employer and other freight companies were turning down opportunities to transport household goods to the then territory of Alaska.

In 1952, Gene established what is now known as Continental. Although headquartered in Seattle, its roots will always be tied to Alaska. From the early days of barge shipping to Seward, through the dramatic growth of Alaska during the oil pipeline construction, Continental blossomed to become a force in Alaska. That success created opportunities for growth in other markets.

After a tragic car accident, nearly costing Gene his life, his wife Katherine stepped into the role of operating the company. As a result, both Katherine and Gene played a huge part in the success of Continental Van Lines.

Continental has grown to a total of 3 offices, 2 in the Pacific Northwest. Serving individual families, small companies, and huge corporations throughout the country, Continental still provides that personal touch on each and every move.

Second generation brother and sister, Greg and Ginnie Blaine, and a seasoned, professional team of managers now lead Continental into a very bright future.
