DITY, The Self-move Process for Military Members

Do it yourself military moving (DITY) has become a popular option for Alaska military members changing station (PCS) or on temporary assignment (TDY)to the Lower 48. The DITY move, currently called PPM, Personally Procured Move, allows a service member to work directly with a moving vendor, arranging the transportation of their own household goods. Under the DITY program, the goverment will pay a percentage of the cost of a full service move. Your TMO or JPPSO office can provide you with a quote of the reimbursement that you would receive. If the actual cost of your move comes in less than that dollar amount, you retain the difference.
